He’s considered to be the starting point for three of the world’s major religions—in fact,
they’re often referred to as the “Abrahamic faiths”. During this five-week course, we will
examine Chapters 11-25 in the Book of Genesis, which cover the adventures and misadventures
of Abraham as he goes from being called by God to leaving behind the lineage of Judaism,
Christianity and Islam. One of the Bible’s most colorful, tenacious and infuriating characters,
Abraham’s story embodies both the best and worst in all of us.

In this five week class we will spend time getting to know each of Jesus’ inner circle—
“The Twelve.” Who were they—that collection of fishermen, tax collectors, zealots, family men,
brothers and sons who were first called disciples and then Apostles? What does the Bible and
church tradition tell us about this group called by Jesus to spread the Good News as well as preach,
teach and heal? What happened to them after Jesus’ resurrection? Come find out as we learn more
about Peter, James, John, Judas, Matthew and the rest.
